Smart Construction S.A., a leading construction company based in Chania, Crete, successfully completed the implementation of Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) across multiple buildings at NSA Souda Bay. Awarded in July 2019 and completed in July 2021, this US Government project with a contract value of $877,174.56 was delivered by Smart Con as subcontractor for engineering, management, and construction services under prime contractor LOTOS Srl.
The project encompassed the modernization of Electrical, Communication, and Mechanical Systems (ECMS) across a diverse range of facilities within the naval base, with the dual aim of improving energy efficiency and enhancing the reliability of critical building infrastructure. Works included upgrades to power distribution systems, climate control and HVAC installations, structured cabling, and the integration of modern building systems designed to support both routine daily operations and mission-critical activities at the base. All works were executed in strict compliance with US military technical standards and base operational requirements.
This project further demonstrates Smart Construction’s proven capability to deliver complex, multi-building technical upgrades within active US Navy installations — requiring precise coordination, rigorous quality control, and the highest levels of professionalism. It adds to Smart Con’s growing portfolio of US Government defense infrastructure projects at NSA Souda Bay, reinforcing the company’s position as a trusted construction partner for American military facilities in Crete.
